Day 10, Saturday 16 September
Restigné to Tours
47k
Feeling – looking forward to spending two nights in the same place.
Uneventful ride along the Loire, passing one enormous chateau after another. Getting rather blasé about all these chateaux. Foggy start with a cold wind, but arrived in Tours in brilliant sunshine. Our B&B had forgotten our reservation (momentary panic) but had rooms available.
This was our last day on the Loire, as we shall be cycling up the Cher to Chenonceau. It’s been excellent. Generally well signed with good quality cycle paths along the top of the Loire levees so you always have a view. Plenty of places to stop – we had coffee this morning in Langeais, in the shadow of a huge fortified chateau with impressive towers and drawbridge. Then delicious lunch of cauliflower soup, roti de veau, and lemon tart (all for €14) in Villandry. Shan’t want supper tonight.
Lobe the descriptions of the meals as much as the scenery
All sounds idyllic – and blog so informative!
What wonderful pen portraits you both paint, as you walk back to the past while cycling to the future…!
Go Malc, Go Liz !!
